Zozibini Tunzi Sorry over “Insensitive” Facebook Posts
Reigning Miss Universe, Zozibini Tunzi, has publicly apologised for old posts that she made on social media.
Taking to Instagram on Wednesday, 27 May, the 26-year-old beauty queen talked to her followers about her old Facebook posts – dating back as far as 2012 – that she dug up herself.
Tunzi explained: “I saw posts that I had shared on Facebook that were very insensitive … I was just so disappointed with myself and just filled with shame that I thought it was okay to share that at that time.”
She added: “I want to take the time to apologise for those posts that I shared, to apologise to anyone that is/was affected by those posts, and just to say that those posts are in direct contrast to who I am and everything that I stand for.”
Tunzi’s apology – which has generally been well-received – comes a week after Bianca Schoombee withdrew her entry from the Miss South Africa 2020 pageant when derogatory posts from her Twitter account resurfaced online.
