Celeb Twitter Round-Up: Jimmy Tau Secretly Weds GF

Retired footballer, Jimmy Tau, is reportedly off the market after getting hitched to his on-off girlfriend, Thabile Ngwato, the CEO of Newzroom Afrika.

Their dating history is kinda complicated, but here’s the gist: Tau and Ngwato began dating years ago, then eventually went their separate ways. Over the next few years, the former Kaizer Chiefs star was involved with several women, including Sizakhele Manonga and Tsholofelo Mhlongo, the latter of whom he married and with whom he has a child.

However, Tau and Mhlongo separated – now, if reports are to be believed, their separation led to divorce, allowing the 44-year-old Kaizer Chiefs alumni to marry Ngwato in a secret ceremony that took place either last week or a fortnight ago.

On Twitter/X, some folks offered up congratulatory messages in response to the news. Of course, many trolls sprung up from under their bridges to spread some misery, with many accusing Tau of marrying Ngwato for financial security:

Meanwhile, other tweeps interpreted the headline as a sign that Ngwato’s wearing the pants in their relationship, and that she was probably the one who popped the question:

At the end of the day, it seems like the two lovebirds are not gonna let the haters out there get to them. And, whether or not they got hitched or are planning to do so in the near future, at least Tau has another reason to be happy right now:

Yup, his beloved Kaizer Chiefs just won the 2025 Nedbank Cup, so you can definitely say that he’s over the moon … with an alleged wedding ring to keep him grounded!
