Celeb Twitter Round-Up: Lebo M.’s Piano Allegedly Stolen By Ex-Wife

April 02, 2025

In case you’re out of the loop regarding his ever-busy love life, record producer Lebo M. tied the knot with businesswoman Pretty Samuels in February 2022.

This marked “The Lion King” composer’s fifth marriage. However, it didn’t last long, as he announced his intentions to divorce Samuels just over a year later. Their divorce was finalised in May 2024.

Unfortunately, there’s still some drama left between Lebo M. – real name Lebo Morake – and his former wife, and it continues to grow after the former accused the latter of stealing his multi-million rand grand piano.

On Monday, 31 March, preparations were underway for rehearsals for Lebo M.’s upcoming concert with acclaimed film composer and collaborator, Hans Zimmer. However, Khanyi Serakoeng – who serves as Morake’s associate producer and project co-ordinator – noticed that the 60-year-old muso’s Bluthner grand piano was nowhere to be found.

From what we can gather, Lebo M. is placing the blame squarely on Samuels’ shoulders, accusing her of using his digital signature to steal the piano (presumably from his residence before it reached the rehearsal venue), having it delivered to Fairmount in Johannesburg, Gauteng, and proceeding to sell the expensive instrument on the black market.

Guess the piano wasn’t part of the divorce settlement, huh?

Lebo M.’s attorney, Brian Msimeki, told a local media outlet on Tuesday, 1 April that his client has “evidence” of Samuels’ theft, and that they are “moving forward with criminal charges.”

Over on Twitter/X, peeps were dumbfounded, bemused and amused by the news:

A few tweeps chirped that maybe Samuels (if she’s responsible for the alleged theft) had her reasons for pinching the pricey piano:

Better alternative than slashing her ex-husband’s tyres or cutting up his boxers, right? Then again, making some moolah on a high-end piano is both petty and pretty illegal.

Meanwhile, other folks are getting tired of hearing about Lebo M.’s marriage troubles:

Ultimately, tweeps like @ItsBM_1 had this to say about “The Power of One” composer:

Yup, we’re sure folks will remember this advice when something like their multi-million rand car, phone or wristwatch goes missing.

Here’s hoping this situation will sort itself out, but we’ve got a feeling that it’s far from over!
