Businesswoman and socialite Shauwn Mkhize is catching all the strays on social media after her football club, Royal AM, was recently kicked out of the Nedbank Cup by the Premier Soccer League (PSL).

Last November, it emerged that Mkhize – who owns the Pietermaritzburg-based outfit and serves as its president – owed the South African Revenue Service (SARS) approximately R40 million in tax debt.

This had a significant effect on Royal AM’s operations, leading to the non-payment of player salaries and a FIFA-imposed ban on signing new players. As a result, they were compelled to postpone numerous matches in the PSL.
