Celeb Twitter Round-Up: Siya Kolisi’s New Squeeze Outs Herself

The lives of South African celebrities rarely stay private, even with all the effort – some could teach local politicians a thing or two about keeping a low-profile – the truth eventually creeps out and shows itself.

For a couple of months, Mzansi twitter had been guessing who Siya Kolisi was seeing but it seems his beau has revealed herself, albeit it in a roundabout manner.

Meet Rachel John, a Dutch-Nigerian model who has been linked to the 34-year-old beloved Springbok captain in recent months.

On Tuesday, 14 April, the 25-year-old social media influencer shared a vlog post of her return to South Africa, complete with a caption showing off the country’s flag. Now, it would seem like a simple travel update, but it was who was in the comments that gave everyone their first hint.

Coincidence, right? Maybe. The rest of the comments on the post were wholesome, welcoming and encouraging.

Before then, the rumour mill had been running at full speed and everyone was either guessing hard or speaking confidently with their whole chest on the two dating. Dots were either being connected or completely ignored.

It was what she shared on Wednesday, 15 April, that made it even more clear. John shared a clip on TikTok of her going on a date. It was while she was showing off her outfit of the evening that a male voice could be heard saying “lucky man”.

South African followers immediately picked up that it was Kolisi and that was that.

The comments started flowing and, well, you know how it goes on these social media streets: every type you can imagine came out to say something. However, there was one poor soul who was out of the loop.

Imagine being so late to the party that you only find out TWO YEARS later that one of your country’s sports heroes had become divorced and started dating again. Imagine!

Nothing has been made official but this soft launch is the start and we’ll be waiting for the rest.
