Celeb Twitter Round-Up: Wendy Mbatha Raises Eyebrows with Podcast Interview

July 21, 2025

It seems like everyone has a podcast these days, and Wendy Mbatha – the sister of acclaimed actress Nomzamo Mbatha – is no exception. However, she had people seriously questioning her interviewing skills when she invited Londie London for a chat.

Over the weekend, London – a successful entrepreneur and model who has starred in “The Real Housewives of Durban” – sat down with Mbatha in the first episode of “On The Couch With Wendy Mbatha”. A snippet of the episode has since gone viral, albeit for all the wrong reasons.

Indeed, folks were taken aback by Mbatha’s intense questioning, particularly when she grilled London about her business ventures and other possible sources of income.

“Guys, I do other things,” replied the 33-year-old braiding businesswoman.

“Like what?” Mbatha immediately fired back. “Londie, there’s a lot of young girls who look up to you … what other things do you do? Like, what other business ventures do you do?”

Although London mentioned her acting gigs, social media-influencing, her fragrance line and tendering business, Mbatha seemed skeptical, especially about whether or not selling braids or being an influencer truly does pay.

After airing, initial reactions to the first episode have been negative, with folks taking to Twitter/X to voice their opinions. Many complained about Mbatha’s interviewing skills, homing in on her “mean girl energy”:

Indeed, some tweeps sympathised with London:

@SisMbali_ agrees that podcasting isn’t up Mbatha’s alley, but probably reckons other folks will lap it up for all its worth:

If anything, Mbatha heard the criticism loud and clear, and she posted this comment on TikTok, where the snippet was uploaded:

There you have it, folks. Seems like she’s genuinely sorry about how she came across. Of course, peeps will have to tune into the next episode of her podcast to see if she’ll do better … or if we need to call in her sister for help!
