Celeb Twitter Round-Up: Zozibini Tunzi Lands Role in Netflix Show
Zozibini Tunzi is making big moves in her burgeoning acting career, starting with her upcoming Netflix debut.
The 32-year-old beauty queen – who made waves when she was crowned Miss Universe in 2019 – has landed a role in “Bad Influencer”, a South African series that will premiere on Netflix on 31 October 2025.
Tunzi revealed the news via a recent Instagram post. She will assume the role of Naomi, who is described as a “mean girl” with a “smirk” to match:
Per the synopsis on Netflix SA’s website, “Bad Influencer” is about “a single mother – and luxury bag counterfeiter – [who] finds herself teaming up with a self-obsessed influencer to sell her bags and scrape her way out of debt.”
It’s unknown if the influencer in question is Tunzi’s character, though we’re positive that she’ll be part of the main cast.
Over on Twitter/X, a majority of tweeps are already giving her their thumbs-down. They believe that Tunzi, like other major media personalities and influencers, is stealing gigs from trained actors who struggle every day to find jobs in the local entertainment industry.
Many went as far as accusing the beauty queen of lacking any acting skills:
Valid points. Still, it’s a bit harsh to judge Tunzi’s performance before it has a chance to air. Even her appearance in the 2022 flick, “The Woman King”, was a cameo at best, so we can’t knock her (constructively, of course) or praise her acting abilities at this stage yet.
Many of her fans reckon that she has the range to pull off the role and that she may have had acting lessons to bolster her skills. All in all, they’re hopeful that she’ll do well:
Let’s give Zozibini Tunzi a round of applause for landing this gig, which she’s clearly excited for. Also, let’s remember to give her a chance once “Bad Influencer” drops on 31 October.
Fingers crossed she’ll prove her naysayers wrong!
