CDQ Exposes Music Industry Gangs
Popular Nigerian rapper Sodiq Yusuf, widely known as CDQ, has sparked intense conversations online by claiming that the domestic music industry is tightly controlled by powerful caucuses, gangs, and cult groups.
Speaking in an interview with content creator JBrandy, the Nowo Soke crooner stated that navigating the music scene independently has become nearly impossible. According to CDQ, artists who achieve mainstream success without external syndicate backing should count themselves incredibly fortunate.
“The music industry has turned to a game of belonging to a particular caucus, gang or cult before anyone could actually help you,” CDQ revealed. “So, if you are able to achieve success in the music industry without associating with any cabal or cult group, you should be grateful to God.”
The rapper further warned independent talents that a lack of systemic affiliation often leads to severe financial waste, explaining, “If you don’t belong to a particular cult group, you might probably spend a lot of money and not see anything in return.”
Urging a structural shift, CDQ called on artists, label executives, and major industry stakeholders to dismantle these gatekeeping trends and separate criminal gangsterism from the music business.
