DJ Samba Returns With New Sound

June 10, 2026

YFM DJ and producer Samba has ended a year-long music hiatus with the release of Umuntu, a new Afro Tech single featuring acclaimed vocalist Philasande, dropped on 5 June 2026. The single serves as the lead track from his upcoming EP, The Samba Code.

Samba has described the single as “a record that speaks to the heart while maintaining the infectious energy of the dancefloor,” adding that the time away “allowed me to grow, reflect and develop my sound.”

Announcing the release on Instagram, Samba wrote: “The first transmission from THE S△MBΛ CØDΞ — UMUNTU, S△MBΛ & PHILASANDE. Dropping: 05/06/2026. The frequency is awakening. Prepare yourself.”

Though widely known as a radio personality, Samba’s musical roots run deep: he first picked up a keyboard in church. He said: “Music has always been at the centre of everything I do. Being exposed to different artists, sounds and stories over the years motivated me to become part of the creative process.”

Samba joins a growing wave of South African DJs pushing Afro Tech onto the global stage. YFM, where Samba remains part of the Club Y DJ roster alongside names like Shakes and Les, Ggoldie and Venom, has been doubling down on its dance music identity in 2026. With The Samba Code on the horizon, Samba is clearly signalling a serious new chapter in his artistic career.
