Emtee Granted Bail

June 12, 2026

Award-winning South African hip-hop artist Emtee, whose real name is Mthetheleni Ndevu, has been granted R1,000 bail in the Midrand Magistrate’s Court after spending a night behind bars. The “Roll Up” hitmaker handed himself over to law enforcement on Wednesday before being detained at the Midrand Police Station.

The arrest follows allegations that the rapper violated a protection order obtained by his estranged wife, Nicole Chinsamy, back in 2023. The legal friction intensified after Emtee recently took to social media to make serious counter-allegations against her, claiming severe domestic disharmony. In an emotional statement previously shared on Instagram, the musician expressed his vulnerability to the public, writing: “I get beaten up by Nicole Kendall Chinsamy multiple times, and I know y’all will laugh at me… but it’s cool, God got me.” He further added a plea for safety, stating, “I need help. Not financially or on no dumb ***.”

As part of his strictly enforced bail conditions, the court has ordered the rapper to immediately cease all communication with Chinsamy. Furthermore, he is legally barred from publishing any direct or indirect social media content relating to her. Emtee is expected to return to court next month.
