Tyla Earns Nod at BET Soul Train Awards

October 08, 2026

Tyla could be adding another trophy to her ever-growing collection of accolades after being nominated at the 2026 BET Soul Train Awards.

Earlier this week, the nominees for the “R&B/Soul Song of the Year” award were revealed on BET’s website. To be nominated, the songs had to have been made available to the general public between 1 June 2025 and 31 May 2026.

Tyla’s nominated single, “Chanel”, dropped in October 2025 and made an instant splash on music charts around the world, including here in Mzansi.

The nomination arrives three years after the 24-year-old songstress earned a “Best New Artist” nod at the 2023 Soul Train Awards.

“Chanel” faces stiff competition for “R&B/Soul Song of the Year”, including Bruno Mars’ “I Just Might”, Olivia Dean’s “Man I Need” and Tems’ “What You Need”.

Public voting is open until next Friday, 16 October. The 2026 BET Soul Train Awards ceremony will take place on 27 November.
